Signe Lidén’s performance Frihetens forpost (‘The Garrison of Freedom’) is developed particularly for the canteen in Bergen Mekaniske Verksted (BMV) in the old shipyard neighbourhood of Laksevåg, where she activates the large frieze painted by Bjørn Tvedt in 1960 portraying the lives of the shipyard workers. Along with archive material, speech and recordings of choirs and brass bands, Lidén intersects the past and the present, exploring relationships between political conscience and tradition, vision and nostalgia.
Park(ing) Day is an international project happening once every year. Activists, artists, designers and others all over the world aim to take back public spaces by using parking lots as parks, or simply for something completely different than parking. Hordaland Art Centre has invited artists Tita Salina and Irwan Ahmett on this occasion.
