FORUM SEMINAR: A PIECE OF ANTI-HISTORY
35 years ago in 2011 the first Art Centre was established in Norway. Hordaland Art Centre has through its history, firstly at the two galleries Galleri 1 and Galleri NK then on its premises at Klosteret, showed artists’ new works. Often these artists have had their first solo exhibition with us. We wish to mark the anniversary together with artists and everyone else interested, and will focus on the art that has been on display.
This is not a question of a comprehensive institutional historiography, but rather a piece of anti-history: We want to focus on the time we have been at the premises at Klosteret (since 1985) through the smallest, and most crucial components: a selection of exhibitions represented through the artists whose work was shown.
We have invited Torbjørn Kvasbø (solo exhibitions in October 1987 and March 1993), Talleiv Taro Manum (solo exhibition in May 1998) and Eva Kun (solo exhibitions in September 1988 and May 2003) to give short lectures and Kurt Johannessen (several performances and solo exhibitions in September 1988 and May 2004) to give a performance lecture especially for this occasion.
