RESIDENCY CÉCILE BELMONT (FRA/GER)

Cécile Belmont (1975, France/Germany)is Hordaland Art Centre's resident October 2010. She will give a talk on Tuesday October 12th at 7 P.M.

Cécile Belmont (1975, France) is a visual artist living and working in Berlin. Her embroideries, installations and urban interventions are shown both inside the gallery and in public space. Through this relationship of space she creates acts of dissemination. Her recent solo exhibitions have been Like an odyssey, Modul-Dresden, Dresden, Germany and First step into private space, Pesci pneumatici, Bologna, Italy, both in 2008. In 2009 she was commissioned by Space Beam, Incheon, Korea to contribute to the public art project Public Studio _ IV.


During the residency she will work on an embroidery project titled The same piece of land under your feet which deals with the relationship between landscape and memory by observing the sites of the Atlantic Wall in Norway, France and Germany.
